Over the next weeks you'll see some new and updated features on Ellalogy. One is the Note to Self, something I started last year and never followed through on. In essence, these notes will be anything I've jotted down to myself that I feel is worth sharing: discoveries, tips, realizations and general inspiration. Hope you enjoy!
For the new year, I've decided that my music library needs some fresh infusions. I read an article on NPR about the top ten world music albums of 2013, which included Banda Magda's Amour t'es là?. Each track is primarily a fusion of Brazilian and French influences, though you'll also detect Greek (a nod to lead singer's Magda Giannikou's heritage) and Japanese elements. As the cover art suggests, the whole album has a colorful, cartoonish pop art vibe that makes you want to don something whimsical and dance the day away. And so, this week on repeat: Banda Magda and my dapper new bow earrings (from my brother!).
Go check out the cute music video for the album's title song. And if you care to spread the love for any current musical obsessions, please share!
